Assembly of trucks, bus starts at new plant |
KARACHI, Jan 6: The Afzal Motors Private Limited in a joint venture agreement with a Korean company has started assembly of trucks and buses. The company has invested Rs500 million in the project in which 250 people have, so far, been accommodated on various job categories. (more...)

11,263 vehicles imported in six months |
KARACHI, Jan 9: The country has imported over 11,200 vehicles of different categories and engine power having a total value of around Rs4.940 billion during first six months (July-December 2006) of the current fiscal. Auto makers plan to invest Rs225bn |
ISLAMABAD,
Jan 25: The auto industry will invest Rs225 billion in the next few years to achieve a new target of 500,000 cars a year, generating more than 30,000 jobs. At the current rate, Pakistan by 2010 would make 500,000 cars a year and pay Rs100 billion in taxes, provided the government ensures a long-term and consistent policy to protect the interests of local industry and to attract fresh investment.
